Bedsteads.-A bedstead of the kind adapted to be arranged so that part thereof projects through a window or other opening is provided with an adjustable support or foot and a clamping-device to engage the wall or a second support to rest within the room, the bed frame also resting on the sill. An awning is provided for the projecting part of the bedstead which may fill the window frame so as to exclude weather from the room. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, a bedstead constructed of tubing connected by detachable joints comprises side tubes j supported at one end by tubes 6 adjustable in sockets q and attached at the other to uprights 8 forming supports for a canopy. Strut-members B are adapted to bear against the outside of the wall and are connected by members A, which rest on the sill, to strutmembers C carrying clamps D which bear on the inside of the wall. The members A are connected by tubes 16 to a cross-tube 10 which carries the uprights 8, and support the uprights 32 of the canopy frame. The uprights 8 are connected by a cross-piece 20 which serves to support a canvas head-rest. The upper part of the canopy comprises tubes connected as shown to the uprights. An auxiliary support F is connected to the crossmember 10 for use when the bedstead is not projected through a window. In a modification, the members B, C are replaced by a support similar to the support E which rests on the floor inside a room. The canopy framework is covered by material formed with pockets to receive some of the bars and secured at other parts by hooks. In the modified construction of canopy framework shown in Fig. 3, the uprights 37 carry a frame N which is covered by material and may be turned up a down.
