Abstract

[Also in Division H2] A single-phase system for supplying traction motors, with on-load voltage regulation on the high-voltage side, comprises a regulating transformer such as an auto transformer and a main transformer with a fixed ratio. The two transformers have a common two-limb magnetic circuit with an auxiliary yoke between the two sets of windings. The auxiliary yoke is of smaller cross-section than the other parts of the magnetic circuit or has a smaller cross-section than a part of the common magnetic circuit to which the winding of the regulating transformer is assigned. The common magnetic frame may be formed by coiling sheet material which is divided into two U-shaped parts. The auxiliary yoke is butt-jointed between the two parts. The seating surface may be bevelled on one side, or the auxiliary yoke may be divided and butt-joined on both sides to the end-faces of the limbs of the common magnetic frame.
