Abstract

1,101,531. Tobacco pipes; cigar and cigarette holders. COLIBRI LIGHTERS Ltd. 9 April, 1965 [21 May, 1964], No. 21077/64. Heading A2M. A tobacco pipe, cigar or cigarette holder of the kind having a stem which includes a tubular metal part 13 forming a smoke cooling chamber and an assembly 12 which fits into the part 13, is provided with an elongated absorbent cleaner 35 the ends of which fit into transverse holes 33 and which extends along the assembly within the annular clearance between the assembly and the internal wall of the tubular metal part and lies in contact with the wall. The pipe has a bowl 8 and hole 9 into which is fitted the smaller end 15 of an adaptor 11. The end 15 may be knurled and a force fit into the hole 9 or it may be screwed in. The adaptor 11 is formed integrally with the piston assembly 12 around both ends of which are provided rings 24 and 25 of silicone rubber. The rings 24 and 25 form a seal between the assembly 12 and the metal part 13 which is fixed to a mouthpiece 10. The part 13 is provided with longitudinal cooling fins. The holes 33 in the assembly 12 receive the bent ends 34 of a pipe cleaner 35 which lies against the wall of the part 13. Smoke cooling chambers are formed by bulges 23 on the assembly 12. Cleaning of the pipe is effected by the scraping action of the ring 25 along the inside of the part 13 as the latter is withdrawn with the mouth piece from the bowl and assembly 12, and by the action of the cleaner 35 which the parts 12 and 13 are relatively rotated during separation.
