A number of units 10 each comprising an armature 16 and associated contacts 21, 22, together with two polepieces 23, 24, are closely stacked to be operated by a common energizing coil unit 11. The assembly is held together by a bolt 31 passing through non-magnetic material 24a and also through spring clips 30 which hold the potted unit 11 on to the units 10 (Fig. 2, not shown). Each armature 16 comprises contact material 18, for example, silver, and is supported by a leaf spring 15 on a terminal pin 12a which with contact terminal pins 12b and 12c enables the assembly to be plugged into a standardized socket or a printed-circuit board. The connections to the energizing coil 28 may be brought out to terminal pins on the same face as pins 12. The polepieces 23, 24 are arranged as shown to give the armature a combined rotational and transverse motion.
