Abstract

[Also in Division D1] A thread supervision device for a textile machine comprises at least one elongated lamp and a light-sensitive element between which the thread passes. The thread 5 is illuminated by a festoon bulb 1 and variations of the crosssection of the thread in any direction cause variations in the output of light-sensitive element 6. To increase sensitivity, screens 7 and 8 may be provided to reduce the light reaching the element 6 without touching the thread. The lamp 1 may be under-run to increase its life. When a long length of thread is to be investigated, a number of lamps, Fig. 2 (not shown), may be provided.
