Abstract
1,099,967. Flexible waveguides. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. June 4, 1965 [July 18, 1964; Sept. 19, 1964], No. 23926/65. Heading H1W. A longitudinally-seamed, corrugated waveguide of square or rectangular cross-section is sufficiently flexible to be wound on a drum. In order to permit such winding without adversely affecting electrical characteristics, the corrugations (sinusoidal or trapezoidal) should conform to the proportions defined by 1À09# b 1 /b 2 #1À2 and 0À05#w/A#0À17 where A is the largest internal diameter of the waveguide. The corners of the waveguide are rounded and the sides may either be straight or bowed outwardly. The waveguide may be made in a continuous operation which involves making a circular guide and then deforming it. A plastic sheath may be applied by spraying.
