Abstract

An aerosol composition comprises a steroid and/or an antibiotic which is insoluble or sparingly soluble in water and oil; a copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone and vinyl acetate; methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether or ethylene glycol monoethyl ether; and a propellant. The active ingredient may be cortisone, cortisone acetate, methyl prednisolone, prednisolone acetate, hydrocortisone, testosterone, methyl testosterone, estradiol, ethynylestradiol, griseofulvin, mikamycin, or gangtokmycin. The propellant may be butane or pentane, methyl, ethyl or propyl chloride or a chlorofluorinated alkane (many specified) or a mixture of these.ALSO:An aerosol composition comprises a steroid and/or an antibiotic which is insoluble or sparingly soluble in water and oil; a copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone and vinyl acetate; methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether or ethylene glycol monoethyl ether; and a propellant. The active ingredient may be cortisone, cortisone acetate, methyl prednisolone, prednisolone acetate, hydrocortisone, testosterone, methyl testosterone, estradiol, ethynylestradiol, griseofulvin, mikamycin, or gangtokmycin. In examples, copolymers having PVP:VA ratios of 70:30, 60:40, 50:50 and 30:70 are used.
