Abstract

Injectable contraceptive compositions comprise 16a , 17a -dihydroxyprogesterone acetophenide, a protracted steroidal estrogenic agent, and an injectable carrier medium. Specified estrogenic agents are estradiol valerate, enanthate, undecylate, palmitate, butyrate, caprylate, and estradiol cyclopentyl propionate. The carrier medium may comprise benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, a liquid glyceridic oil, e.g. sesame, corn, or castor oil.
