Abstract
109,962. Wingqvist, E. H. Nov. 30, 1916, [Convention date]. Gear-cutting.-Bevel-wheels having curved teeth and gaps of uniform height and of constant width from end to end in all sections at right-angles to the curved surfaces, are formed from a plane-generating wheel 1 having teeth 3 curved as involutes of a circle 4 and with straight sides of constant height. The generated teeth 5 of the bevel-wheel 2 have the same form as the teeth 3 but are also curved in profile. The teeth are cut by a wedge shaped tool which cuts the two tooth faces at the same time, or the bevel wheel may be made by hot-rolling of a blank over the generating wheel 1. As shown in Fig. 8, the invention is applied to a bevel-wheei having two sets of teeth curved in opposite directions and separated by a slot 7.
