Abstract

1,099,214. Transistor delay switching circuits. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. May 13, 1966 [May 20, 1965], No. 21337/66. Heading H3T. A time delay circuit comprises at least three semi-conductor switching devices S1, S2, S3 a first state of an input signal turning on device S2; means having a time delay initiated by the turning on of S2 to turn on S3 and produces an output signal at terminal 10; means to turn on device S1 when the input signal has a second state; and means C1, C2, C3 for ensuring that only one semi-conductor switching device is turned on at a time. Assume initially that S1 is turned on, then closing switch 14 will produce a pulse in W3 to fire S2 and commutating capacitor C1 will extinguish S1. Capacitor C4 will commence to charge, and after a delay, determined by the setting of R2, diode D will break down to fire S3 and produce an output at 10. Capacitor C2 will extinguish S2. When switch 14 opens, the resulting pulse in winding W2 will refire S1 and C3 will extinguish S3. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the firing pulse for S1 is provided by making switch 14 a changeover switch which connects a positive supply to winding W1, shorting resistor R 0 .
