In a route setting arrangement of the entry exit type, means are provided for automatically setting up routes through the controlled network in response to coded instructions received from an approaching train. Entrance-exit keys TA, TD3, T102 &c., can be manually operated by associated members KT or electrically operated by route stores F. Instruction receivers A are provided which receive the route information supplied, e.g. by train describer apparatus on an approaching train and pass this information to order stores BA, BAB or BA associated with the keys defining the required route. Where the route is clear the order stores pass the information to the route stores via which the keys are operated and the route is set up by the usual route setting apparatus. However, if the route is not available the instructions are retained in the order stores until the route is free and the route store is able to receive them. The keys are provided with lights which provide a steady illumination when a route is set up but which flash when an order is held in the order store.
