Abstract
1,097,747. Ceramic seals. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRO - CERAMIQUE. March 25, 1966 [March 26, 1965], No. 13392/66. Heading B3V. [Also in Division H2] A ceramic-to-ceramic joint using enamel as an adhesive, is made by forming cavities 5 in the surfaces 3, 4 to be joined, and coating the surfaces and the walls of the cavities with an enamel before locating them with plugs 6 in the cavities. The assembly is fired to set the joint. Spherical plugs 6 of the same material as the parts to be joined may be used which are wholly or partially prefired to lessen contraction during subsequent firing for securing the joint. The joints may be formed between the cylindrical and tapering sections of an insulator, Fig. 4 (not shown).
