Abstract

A vulcanizable composition comprises an amorphous olefin terpolymer formed from ethylene, an alpha-olefin and a cyclic or acyclic polyene having unconjugated double bonds, a carbon black reinforcing filler and an organic hydroperoxide of the general formula R-OOH wherein R is a tertiary aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical. Organic hydroperoxides used are alpha-cumyl-hydroperoxide, p-menthane - hydroperoxide, tert. - amyl - hydroperoxide or bromo-tert.-butyl-hydroperoxide. Terpolymers exemplified are ethylene, propylene and cyclooctadiene, dicyclopentadiene, methyltetrahydroindene or methylene-norburnene.
