Abstract
A homogeneous mixture of atactic polypropylene and isotactic polypropylene is prepared by suspending crude, finely-divided isotactic polypropylene in an aliphatic alcohol containing one to four carbon atoms, metering into the suspension, either continuously or in stages, a solution of atactic polypropylene in an aliphatic hydrocarbon containing six to ten carbon atoms or a mixture of such hydrocarbons and separating off the resulting precipitate by a method known per se. The crude isotactic polypropylene may be in the form of a precipitate isolated from a heptane solution obtained from a low pressure polymerization process. In the example, the isotactic polypropylene is suspended in methanol and the atactic polypropylene added in heptane solution. In place of the atactic polypropylene alone a mixture with polyisobutylene may be used.
