Abstract

1,097,305. Advancing mine roof supports. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. May 18, 1965 [Feb.18, 1964], No.6744/64. Heading F1P. A roof support assembly comprises a roof support having hydraulic props 6 advanceable relative to an anchorage, e.g. a conveyer, by operation of an hydraulic jack 7, and a pressure responsive valve 70 which prevents the jack 7 from advancing the roof support, when the support is selected for advance or has started to advance, until the pressure in the props has fallen below a predetermined value. The roof support assembly may form one of a series of assemblies connected and arranged to operate as described in Patent Specification 1,023,478 wherein a support is selected for advance when its signal line 18 is pressurized to cause pressurization of a line 24 connected to the advancing jack 7. The pressure responsive valve 70 is disposed in the line 24 and is opened by a spring 76 when the pressure in a line 77 connected to the props 6 falls below the predetermined value by exhausting through the valve F.
