109,729. Smithies, J. Jan. 26, 1917. Protractors.-A gauge for use with cutting tools for lathes, planing-machines, &c. comprises two pairs of proportional levers a, b hinged together to form two pairs of jaws f, g so arranged that when one pair of jaws is adjustable to the horizontal plan of a tool l the other jaw g will give the vertical section for the particular cutting angle for which the gauge is made. A notch k indicates the cutting angle. Instead of being held together by rivets as shown, one or more of the pivots may comprise a screwed part provided with a clamping nut. The levers B may be provided with more than one hole for the pivot in order that the gauge may be set for different cutting angles.
