Discharging. - In a retort comprising a shell 1 and a central duct 11, the space between them being divided by radiating webs 12 into narrow distillation chambers, the bottom of the chambers is in the form of a conical plate 10, and is mounted on the bottom 3 of the shell. For discharging, the bottom 3 is unfastened and the core comprising the duct 11 and chambers is lowered out of the shell 1 by means of a counterweighted frame.
