Abstract

1,093,780. Draughting machines. B.W. HAZELTON. Dec. 16, 1965 [Dec. 21, 1964], No.53417/65. Heading G1X. A draughting maching comprises a circular drawing board 8, an elongated carrier arm 19 beneath the board 8 and pivoted about the centre thereof, an elongated draughting blade 36 overlying the board and pivoted in a draughting head on the free end of the carrier arm 19 and an endless steel band 29 running round pulleys at both the pivots to ensure that the blade 36 moves parallel to itself over the board 8, the pulley at . the centre of the board being stationary and the other pulley rotating with the draughting head as the head is moved round the board. The blade 36 is normally locked at a set angular position in the head, but release mechanism is provided to allow the blade to be rotated and locked in a new set angular position. A releasable ratchet mechanism is also provided to hold the blade in a number of predetermined angular positions. An arm 85 extends from the central pivot opposite the arm 19 and carries a counterbalance weight 86. The draughting board 8 may be released for rotation by operation of a bell-crank 81 and a ratchet mechanism is also provided at the pivot of the board 8 to hold the board in predetermined angular positions. In a further embodiment the board 8 is rectangular and fixed.
