Abstract
1,093,627. Sewing machines. LEIPZIGER BUCLIBINDEREIMASCHINEN W E R K E VEB. Feb. 23, 1965, No. 7793/65. Heading DIG. Book-stitching apparatus comprises a rotary element having at least three aligned thread guide-in lays with associated thread-clamping means, and a device for dividing the clamped thread into staple-like pieces. As shown, a four-sided plate 2, fixed to a rotary shaft 1, is formed in each side with three aligned notches for receiving a thread 4 which is held in the notches by the arms 5' 5" of a one-piece spring clamp 5, the arms being raised by respective fixed cam members 7' 7" while the thread is being laid in said notches, at a station 6, by the rotation of shaft 1. At the next station 10 the thread is divided by two blades 13 co-operating with edges 14 of notches 8. The damped and severed thread then moves to an idle station 12, and finally to a station 11 at which apparatus disposed in notches 9 formed in plate 2 passes the ends of the two severed thread lengths 17, 18 through the book signature.
