Abstract
1,092,671. Testing bores. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. April 18, 1966 [Feb. 22, 1965], No. 7521/65. Heading G1M. Advice for checking the straightness of a bore 13 comprises an elongated mandrel 10 carrying longitudinally spaced fixed abutments 11, 12 and at a point intermediate these abutments, a further abutment 14 which can be moved radially with respect to the bore 13, such radial movement being limited by contact of the further abutment 14 with the wall of the bore, fluid being supplied in use through the interior 17 of the mandrel so as to escape through channel 18 around the abutment, the rate of escape being dependent on the magnitude of radial movement and indicator means being provided for indicating the rate of escape of fluid. The abutment 14 has two fixed annular member 15, 16 on opposite sides to prevent longitudinal movement of abutment along the mandrel.
