Abstract

1,091,821. Underwater lamps. JACUZZI BROS. Inc. Jan. 17, 1966 [Feb. 5, 1965], No. 2047/66. Heading F4R. In an arrangement for providing underwater illumination in a swimming pool, a hollow tube is installed in the wall of the pool and extends from a location below the normal water level to a location on the deck surrounding the pool, the lower end of the tube being sealed by a lens and the upper end being fitted with a housing containing a sealed beam or other lamp. The tube may be straight and extend diagonally through the upper corner of the wall, or may be in two sections set at right angles with a plane mirror at the junction. The lamp housing projects above the surface of the deck and has a waterproof convex outer cover of poor heatconductive material and a spaced convex inner cover of rust-resistant metal provided with a porous plug. A hollow stem (Fig. 7, not shown) may extend upwardly from the centre of the cover and carry a downwardly facing concave reflector, so that a portion of the light originating from the lamp will pass up the stem and be dispersed by the reflector on to the surrounding surface of the deck.
