Abstract

A fluxless arc welding electrode comprises a ferrous wire or strip and includes .0.-12% Mg .0.-8% Ti .1.6.-15% Al .0.-5% Zr .0.4.-2.4% Mn .0.1.-2% Si where Ti + Al + Zr \s0 3% and when Mg is absent, Ti \s0 0.1% when Al + Zr \s0 5% and Ti \s0 1% when Al + Zr < 5%. The above elements may be incorporated in part at least in a wire or strip which is otherwise of mild steel.
