Abstract

1,091,414. Lace machines and fabrics. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Jan. 13, 1965 [Feb. 1, 1964], No. 4364/64. Headings D1C and D1K. Lace fabric is formed on a machine comprising upper and lower rows 3, 1 of bobbins, Fig. 1, the bobbins being mounted on members 4 comprising upper and lower discs 10, 8 retained in position by pairs of supports 12, 13, Fig. 2, which are alternately disengaged to permit the yarns from the lower bobbins to balloon round each two adjacent upper bobbins to cause the yarns to intertwine and produce the lace fabric as illustrated in Fig. 1. The yarns from the lower bobbins is caused to balloon by a thread guide 27 being rotated by chain and sprocket mechanism from a drive which also imparts motion to a pair of take up rollers 38 positioned above the bobbins. The supports 12, 13 are actuated by cam and link mechanism to effect their control. Alternatively a tubular lace fabric can be produced by arranging the bobbins in two circular rows one superimposed on the other. The support members for the upper bobbins can be operated by solenoids.
