Abstract

1,091,086. Expansion joints. EXPANDITE Ltd. July 13, 1966 [July 13, 1965], No. 29702/ 65. Heading E1G. In a method of sealing a joint between the edges of concrete slabs 2, 6, a flexible sealing strip 4 made of material which softens on heating and having electrical heating wire 7 embedded along its length is placed in the joint, and an electric current is passed through the wire to heat and soften the strip so that it conforms and adheres to the edges of the slabs. The strip may be composed of butyl rubber composition. The slabs 2, 6 may be pre-cast and may form part of the cladding of a building.
