Abstract
A phosphorus-containing derivative of mitomycin C is prepared by reacting mitomycin C with the reaction product of phosphorus oxychloride and monoethanolamine produced in the presence of an organic base. The final product contains compounds designated M21 and M22 which might well be reaction products of cyclophosphamide ester chloride and mitomycin C, and which are separated by chromatography on silica gel using methanol-ethyl acetate mixture as eluant. A therapeutic composition having antiseptic properties comprises a phosphorus-containing derivative of mitomycin C as above, and a carrier for internal or external use.ALSO:The putrifaction of raw fish is inhibited by treatment with a phosphorus-containing derivative of the antibiotic mitomycin C in powder form. The derivative is produced by reacting mitomycin C with the reaction product of phosphorus oxychloride and monoethanolamine in the presence of an organic base.
