Abstract

1,089,241. Arched or domed - roofs. GASKELL & CHAMBERS Ltd. July 15, 1965 [Aug. 4, 1964], No. 31707/64. Heading E1W. Roofs are formed of hollow elements of hexagonal outline having each side inclined so that when the elements are connected together side-by-side they form an arched or domed structure. The elements, which each comprise metal a strip 11 bent to form a hexagon, are connected together by bolts 13 with wedge pieces 16 of Y-section interposed between the corners of the hexagons. Within each hexagonal element are located a pair of panels 14, which may be transparent or translucent, the panels carrying spring strips 15 which engage ribs 12 of a channel member secured by the bolts 13. Y-shaped cover strips 18 are retained by projections 17 on the upper ends of the wedge pieces 16, the limbs of the Y serving to protect the joints between the elements against the weather.
