Abstract

108,916. Bevan, A. P. Sept. 11, 1916. Soldering.-A solder is composed of ordinary soft solder with fine particles of copper, brass, &c., which are insoluble at the temperature at which the solder is used. The particles may be merely added to the melted soft solder; or, by heating a copper alloy containing much tin or zinc, such as spectrum metal, with the. soft solder to red heat and then cooling the solution rapidly while stirring, fine crystals of the copper alloy may be precipitated.
