Abstract

1,088,082. Reciprocating machine tool tables. HYDREL A.G. Jan. 22, 1965 [Jan. 22, 1964], No. 3014/65. Heading B3L. An hydraulic drive for reciprocating a table in a machine tool &c. comprises an hydraulic piston-cylinder-motor whose piston K is provided with two piston-rods extending in opposite directions through the ends of the cylinder, a variable delivery reversible pump P delivering working fluid under pressure alternately to the alternately operative working surfaces of the piston by way of an hydraulic reversing device U which is fed by a servopump ZP, there being provided a time mechanism, the time constant of which is adjustable in inverse ratio to the volumetric output of the delivery pump, the time mechanism comprising a timing member ZR 1 adapted to open a valve SV 1 in a feed line between the servopump ZP and the reversing device U, under the control of means Z, R, operable by the hydraulic motor piston or by parts connected therewith to provide a control speed proportional to the speed of the piston. The piston U controls the pump P through a link St and its stroke is determined by cams E 1 , E 2 , set by hand wheels H 1 , (H 2 ). Fluid for operating the piston U is supplied at a constant pressure by a pump ZP driven by the same motor which drives the pump P. When a dog N 1 or N 2 travelling with the piston K trips a rod AF 1 or AF 2 , one of the time delay valves AK 1 , AK 2 is operated to cause fluid from a gear pump HP to move one of two spring-pressed valves SV 1 , SV 2 , to direct fluid from the servo pump ZP to the piston U. The length of stroke of the time-delay valves SV, and thence the duration of the time delay, is determined by cams E 3 , E 4 adjusted simultaneously with the cams E 1 , E 2 . The delivery of the pump HP is rendered proportional to the speed of the piston K by driving it by a rack Z and a pinion R. The gear pump HP may be replaced by a positive displacement pump. In modifications, the trip dogs either operate mechanical devices to move the control valves or move pistons within cylinders.
