Abstract

108,679. Cocanari, S. April 20, 1915, [Convention date]. Printing-apparatus; trays, dishes, and containers with transfer arrangements for daylight developing etc.; plates, films, and papers, receptacles for.-Prints on paper, films, or plates, are printed, developed, and fixed in daylight, by means nf an apparatus comprising a printing-box 1 communicating with a light-tight box 11 in which a frame 15 constructed so as to permit liquids to enter it, but to exclude light, is placed; cut sheets of paper &c. 23 are arranged in the printing- box in a pile with sensitized surfaces uppermost, the frame being then removed and placed successively in the developing and fixing baths. Printing may be effected with the aid of a box 2 carrying an electric lamp 4, a ground-glass screen 6, and a negative 3, the box 2 fitting within the box 1 and being capable of depression against springs 29 so as to bring the negative into contact with the paper &c. The light may be switched on and off by hand for printing, or automatically by contacts on members 7, 8 which are brought into engagement against the action of a spring 9, when the box 2 is lowered. The sheets of paper &c. are initially Stored in an envelope having an open end which is closed by a metal U-shaped strip 26, a wire 28 passing through the top and bottom of the envelope and the paper sheets 23 to secure them to the strip 26. The sheets 23 are provided with tabs 24, and the envelope is long enough to enclose the tabs. The envelope is placed in the box 1 with a stop 27 carried by the strip 26 engaging the member 7 and with the end containing the tabs projecting through a velvet-lined slit 10 into the box 11. The box 11 has a removable lid 12, and, before printing, the envelope is drawn through the slit 10 from the box 1 so as to leave the sheets 23 exposed. After printing, the tab 24 of the top sheet is passed into the frame 15 under a frame 21 which is pivoted at 22 and is provided to hold the paper &c. flat in the frame 15. The end of the tab is then passed through a velvet-lined slit 13, the lid 2 is placed on the box 11, the tab 24 is pulled to draw the printed sheet into the frame 15 and then torn off, and the frame 15 is closed, by a eliding cover 16. The frame 15, which has double walls pierced by staggered openings, is then removed and placed in the developing-bath &c.
