Abstract

A thread-sealing composition comprises a grease and 2-45% of a solid, granular synthetic thermoplastic substance of which 15-50% is - 20 + 40 mesh (U.S. Standard sieve) and a minor proportion is - 100 mesh. Solids specified are polytetrafluorethylene, nylon, rubber, e.g. butadiene-acrylonitrile, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and polyvinyl chloride. Greases specified are mineral oils thickened with aluminium, calcium or lithium stearate or clay with or without graphite, lead, copper or zinc.ALSO:A thread-sealing composition comprises a grease and 2-45% of a solid, granular synthetic thermoplastic substance, 15-50% of which is -20+40 mesh (U.S. standard sieve) and a minor proportion is -100 mesh. Solids specified are polytetrafluorethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, rubber, e.g. butadiene-acrylonitrile and nylon. Greases specified are mineral oils thickened with clay or aluminium, calcium or lithium stearate with or without graphite, lead, copper or zinc
