Abstract

1,086,464. Perforating sheet material. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 3, 1965 [March 3, 1964], No. 9180/65. Heading B4B. [Also in Division H1] A plastics foil 2 is perforated with at least 10 holes per square millimetre by means of a pulsed electron beams 3, 10 Á in diameter, which is swept across the foil as it is moved under the beam. The peak power intensity of the beam at the foil is at least 1À2 x 10<SP>5</SP> kw. per square centimetre. A double line of holes may be produced, inclined or perpendicular to the edge of the foil, in each period of the beam deflection voltage (see Division H1). The foil, which may be of polyethylene, may be subjected to a succession of electron beams.
