Abstract
The invention relates to olefinically unsaturated amino methylene-N-carboxylic acid amide sulphonic acids or salts having the formula R-CO-NH-CH2-NH-CO-(CH2)x-SO3Me in which R is an olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical, x is 1 to 4 and Me is an atom of hydrogen or an alkali metal. R may also be a radical of the formula <FORM:1086038/C2/1> in which R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl or aryl radical and R2 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical. Compounds claimed per se are those having the formula <FORM:1086038/C2/2> and <FORM:1086038/C2/3> The compounds may be prepared by reacting an alkali metal sulphite and an unsaturated amidomethylene carboxylic acid amide of the formula R-CO-NH-CH2-NH-CO-(CH2)x-Z in which Z is chlorine, bromine or iodine atom in an aqueous medium at a temperature in the range of 30 DEG to 100 DEG C.
