Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1085697/C2/1> in which X and Y represent a hydrogen or chlorine atom or a nitro group and R represents a vinyl, n-butyl or n-amyl group. They may be made by reacting a phenyl hydrazine of the general formula <FORM:1085697/C2/2> with a carboxylic acid or a functional derivative of formula R-CO-Z, in which Z represents -OH, -O-alkyl, a group -COOR or a halogen atom, preferably in the presence of water, an acid acceptor or a catalyst, for example aluminium chloride.ALSO:Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1085697/A5-A6/1> in which X and Y are hydrogen, chlorine or nitro and R is vinyl, n-butyl or n-amyl are used as fungicides by themselves or as mixtures with other plant protection agents in dry or liquid form with the addition of solid and/or liquid diluents or carriers and, if desired, of adhesives, wetting agents, emulsifiers and/or dispersing agents. In addition surfaceactive substances and/or dyestuffs may be present. Suitable solid extenders are, for example, kaolin, talc, silicic acid and clays, suitable solvents and liquid extenders are, for example, alcohols, ketones, dimethylformamide, dimethylsulphoxide, water and hydrocarbons, suitable surface-active substances are, for example, ligninsulphonic acids and their salts, alkylated benzene sulphonic acids and their salts, sulphonated acid amides and their salts, polyethoxylated amines, alcohols and phenols and their sulphates; and a suitable dyestuff is new fuchsine.
