Abstract

1,085,586. Suction cleaners. ELECTROLUX Ltd. June 1, 1966 [June 1, 1965], No. 24443/66. Heading A4F. When the suction within the housing 10 of a suction cleaner nozzle 11 is substantially decreased a diaphragm 20 in the housing wall opens switch contacts 25, 26 to de-energize a lamp 27 and the motor 17 driving a roller brush 15 within the nozzle. Such substantial decrease in suction occurs when a pipe section (not shown) in the connection between the nozzle 11 and the suction cleaner is placed horizontally and thus tilts the housing 10 so that the suction opening 38 becomes exposed. Cam means (Fig. 4, not shown) is provided for raising and lowering the roller brush 15. Alternatively the switch contacts 25, 26 may control electromagnetic means for engaging and disengaging the brush 15 with or from its drive.
