Abstract
1,085,522. Gating circuits; cathode-ray tube circuits. MARCONI CO. Ltd. April 8, 1964 [June 12, 1963], No. 23403/63. Headings H3T and H4T. A sampling circuit comprises two amplifier devices such as transistors 1, 2, a gate 5 for applying a sample of the input signal to the input electrode of one of the devices, means for taking a push-pull output from the circuit and means for adjusting simultaneously in the same sense the bias on the input electrodes of the devices to a value equal to the potential of a portion of the sample. As shown, the potentiometer 15 may be adjusted such that the rest level of the output is equal to the level of the sample so that no change of output level occurs during the sampling period. If the output is connected to a C.R. oscilloscope the amplitude of the sample may be measured by replacing the input signal by a measurable voltage giving the same deflection. Switch 18 may be opened during the sampling period to produce a ramp across capacitor 17 and this may be adjusted to balance out the slope of the signal sample. Transistors may be used as the switches and as the constant current source 3.
