Abstract
1,085,393. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. DOWTY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Jan. 29, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964], No. 4612/64. Heading G3P. [Also in Division F1] In a radial piston pump having a cam-ring pivotably adjustable to vary the piston stroke (see Division F1), the cam-ring is adjusted by a control member 120 subjected to the pressure in the system supplied by the pump. The system pressure at connection 127 acts directly on the right-hand end of member 120 and via passages 131, 132, 142 on the left-hand end of the member, a spring 129 biasing the member to its full-stroke position shown. Above a predetermined level, the system pressure opens a pilot valve 136 to connect the left-hand end of member 120 to the pump casing via ports 139, 140, so that the system pressure acting on the right-hand end of member 120 moves the member leftwards to reduce the stroke. When the system pressure has dropped sufficiently, valve 136 closes and the pressures on either side of member 120 equalize, permitting spring 129 to return member 120 to its full-stroke position. Member 120 has frusto-conical faces 124, 125 engaging a gearlike tooth 119 of involute form on the cam-ring.
