Abstract

A rectangular sieve plate for a heated press platen comprises elongated slots disposed in mutually parallel rows so that the slots in one row overlap those in another and every section of the plate transverse to the longitudinal direction of the slots is interrupted by a plurality of slots. The area of the plate is thereby sub-divided into zones which may increase or decrease in area to compensate for thermal stresses. The slots may communicate with grooves in the rear face of the plate to facilitate the escape of liquid or steam.
