Abstract

1,084,606. Turbine blades. BRISTOL SIDDELEY ENGINES Ltd. March 15, 1966 [March 20, 1965], No.11947/65. Heading F1T. Each turbine blade 5 is mounted on the rotor disc 2 by the serrated limbs 6 of a bifucated root engaging a correspondingly serrated projection 3 on the disc. A chamber 9 open at its upstream end is formed between limbs 6 and is supplied with cooling air. The chamber 9 converges towards its closed downstream end, Fig. 2 (not shown), and communicates through intermediate passages (11) in the blade platform 10 with cooling passages (12) extending longitudinally through the blade aerofoil portion. The intermediate passages (11) do not have any component of direction circumferentially of the rotor disc 2. Cooling air also passes through passages 13 between the limbs 6 of adjacent blades.
