[Also in Division E2] A pipe fitting 1 of plastics material, such as polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene, for either closing an inspection or rodding hole in a pipe wall or a hole formed by drilling out a damaged portion of a pipe wall comprises a cover 8 adapted to close the hole, a pair of integral arms 2, 3 which are adapted to embrace the pipe and sealingly clamp the cover over the hole by means of a bolt extending through integral outwardly-directed lugs 4, 5, and an integral projecting rim or ring 9 on the cover inner face adapted to engage in the hole to position the cover thereover. The cover is part-cylindrical in section and the rim or ring is extended to only project through the pipe wall itself but not into the pipe bore. A sealing ring may be disposed about the projecting rim or ring. If required, the fitting may be permanently secured to the pipe as by means of a suitable adhesive or bonding agent or by heat.
