Abstract
1,083,468. Parametric amplifiers. CSFCOMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Dec. 14, 1964 [Dec. 30, 1963], No. 50830/64. Heading H3B. A parametric amplifier consists of a threeconductor transmission line with a diode 4 interposed in the centre conductor 1, which lies between two earthed plates parallel to the-plane of the Figure. A rectangularly-sectioned rod 5 of dielectric material couples the diode by way of a tapered section 7, 8 to a pump waveguide, which operates in a TE-mode. A shortcircuit termination 6 is provided at the other end of rod 5. The cut-off frequency of dielectric line 5, 7, 8 is arranged to be above the signal and idler frequencies. The signal is introduced from the left, through a band-pass filter 11, and the idler frequency circuit includes a filter 12 centred on the idler frequency. The output may be taken from either the idler or the signal circuit. It is stated that if an input is supplied to the " idler " circuit an output may be taken from the " signal " circuit.
