Abstract
1,083,181. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI CO. Ltd. July 10, 1964 [July 24, 1963], No. 29318/63. Heading H3W. [Also in Division H1] There is connected across the input of a radio frequency amplifier a transmission line 10 adjustable as to electrical length and having at spaced points along it a number of bridging capacitors 12 whose value and mutual spacing are such that when the line is adjusted to ar electrical length approaching a quater-wave length at the operating frequency, or an odd multiple thereof, the circuit appears inductive at that frequency and of low reactance at ar undesired harmonic thereof. As shown, the line, the electrical length of which is altered by means of an adjustable shorting member 11 forms with tapped tuned circuit 4, 5, the input circuit of a grounded-grid amplifier and serves to improve the efficiency of operation by reducing the amount of second harmonic appearing in the input circuit. The construction of a suitable line is also described in the Specification (see Division H1).
