1,083,160. Automatic control. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON-HOTCHKISS BRANDT. Nov. 30, 1965 [Dec. 8, 1964], No.50857/65. Heading G3R. In an industrial regulator, an operational amplifier, responsive to the deviation of a measured value from a desired value to provide a control value to a process member, is provided with a proportional control potentiometer in the input circuit and integrating and differentiating circuits in the feedback path. As shown, an error signal is derived from a comparator 13 and fed through a proportioning potentiometer 12 and resistor 11 to an operational amplifier A. The feedback path between points 5, 4 is provided by a capacitor 3, and resistors 1, 2. The differentiating circuit is formed by the ganging of the resistor 2 and a resistor 7 through slider 6 and a capacitor 8 and the integrating circuit by the capacitor 3 and an adjustable resistor 10. The differentiating and integrating circuits are cut out by an isolating switch 9 and a short-circuiting switch 14 respectively. In a modification, a deviation detector is provided, which, when the deviation exceeds a predetermined value actuates a relay to modify the input and feedback path of the operational amplifier so that its output is in the form of a ramp function causing the deviation to be progressively reduced to below the predetermined value when the deviation detector restores the regulator to normal operation.
