Abstract

Novel thieno-benzolthiapyran derivatives of the formula <FORM:1083126/C2/1> wherein R1 represents a halogen atom or an alkoxy or alkylmercapto radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R2 represents an alkyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and their acid addition salts are prepared by splitting off the elements of water from the corresponding 4 - hydroxy - 4 - (1 - C114 - alkyl - piperidyl - 4)-thienobenzothiapyrans by dry heating or treatment with a water-removing agent and, if desired, converting the bases produced to their acid addition salts with organic or inorganic acids. Therapeutic compositions having sedative, neuroleptic, antihistaminic, adrenolytic and serotonin - inhibiting properties contain the above compounds as active ingredients. The composition may be in a form suitable for enterol or parenteral application.
