Abstract

1,082,774. Thermal switches. WALTER KIDDE CO. Ltd. March 17, 1966 [April 22, 1965; Dec. 22, 1965], Nos. 17122/65 and 54433/65. Heading H2B. A thermal switch for heat or fire-detecting comprises a pair of crossed spring wire contacts 122, Fig. 2, biased apart and connected by a solder 125 selected to melt at a required temperature. A rubber washer 119 has tongues 132, Fig. 4, which are bent over into recesses 133 in the base 114 for gripping against conduit boxes in which the switch is press-fitted. A moulded plastic cover 124 is attached by an adhesive and may be made of a transparent moulded plastic resistant to a corrosive atmosphere.
