Abstract
1,082,484. Data transmission. DE STAAT DER NEDERLANDEN, TEN DEZE VERTEGENWOORDIGD DOOR DE DIRECTEURGENERAAL DER POSTERIJEN, TELEGRAFIE EN TELEFONIE. Oct. 13, 1964 [Oct. 15, 1963], No.41726/64. Heading H4P. A digital data transmission system in which errors are corrected by repetition comprises first and second stations, each of which transmits a sequence of data signals to the other. In both sequences, adjacent signals belong to alternate groups. Each station must receive an unmutilated signal from the other station prior to transmitting a signal in the sequence. If a station detects an error, then, instead of the next signal in the sequence, it transmits a service signal indicating the group of the character awaited (i.e. of the character mutilated) and the group of the character that the station intends to transmit next. On detection of this service signal the required signal is retransmitted. If there is received a service signal indicating the intention to send a signal of a group which, is not that awaited by the receiving station, that station sends a service signal indicating the signal group which is required.
