Abstract

Monoazo dyes containing 2,3-dichloro-quinoxaline-carbonylamino -groups are described. In an Example a dye of formula <FORM:1082168/C4-C5/1> is prepared by coupling diazotized 4-nitroaniline-2 -sulphonic acid with 1-(21-chloro-51-sulphophenyl) -3-methyl-5-amino-pyrazole and reducing the product with Na2S to give <FORM:1082168/C4-C5/2> which is reacted with 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline-6-carboxylic acid chloride.ALSO:Diffusion resistant dyes are prepared by reacting gelatin with an azo dye of formula <FORM:1082168/C3/1> wherein Y is an azo dye radical, X is H, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, n is 1-3. The dye radicals are preferably attached to the dichloroquinoxaline radical by a -NR-SO2- or -NR-CO bridge, where R is H or alkyl. Suitable dyes are disclosed in Specifications 995,791 to 995,796.
