Abstract
Metal or metal coated powder with a particle size below 10 microns which does not flow freely is mixed with more than 2% and less than 6% by weight of a volatilizable non residue forming liquid such as water, naphtha, benzene, kerosene and glycol, to increase the flowability prior to feeding into the roll gap of a rolling unit to form a green strip. In order to avoid build up of the liquid in the roll gap an absorbent wiper pad or rubber or plastic scrapers are used to remove the excess liquid from the rolls. Examples are given of rolling Ni powder containing 1.7% ThO2; Ni powder alone and Fe powder alone. The green strip may be sintered or hot rolled.
