Abstract

1,081,939. Copy-milling. TRUE TRACE CORPORATION. Nov. 9, 1964, No. 45661/64. Heading B3K. A pantograph-type copying machine comprises a valve 44 to control the copying movements. A follower shaft 11, which carries the valve, is vertically movable in a sleeve 13 and is pivotally connected to an arm 10 sliding in sleeves 16, 18. The sleeves are respectively pivoted to a fixed pivot 15 and a cutter shaft 20. The pivot 15 and shafts 11, 20 are connected by an adjustable pantograph linkage (21, 22, 23). The cutter 27 is rotated by a motor 26a. The workpiece 33 and pattern 34 may each be vertically adjustable. The tracer valve 44 is mounted on a slide 43 movable by a fluid motor 62 and a screw 63 horizontally on a slide (40), movable vertically by a fluid motor (58) on a slide (37) movable horizontally on the pattern support 32 by a fluid motor 53 and a screw (36). The tracer 68 is movable vertically and pivotally from side-to-side and controls two fluid circuits, the rates of flow through which are inversely related. The circuits may control any two of the motors 53, 58, 62. An incremental feed may thus be applied to the slide (37) while the work is machined in vertical planes. In a modification, all three motors are controlled by the tracer.
