[Also in Division D1] A safety net comprises a base net formed of crossed base strands 1 attached to one another and main strands 4 that are laced in and out of the base net mesh, without being attached to the base strands. One or more main strands may be laced into each or selected base net mesh. The base net strands are of a gauge lighter than the main net strands. A rim rope 3 forms a boundary of the net and the main strands may be looped over this rope or looped through rings that encircle the rope.
