Abstract

Aerosol compositions comprise an anti-inflammatory steroid of the formula <FORM:1081358/C4-C5/1> wherein R3 is H, Cl, or F together with a propellant. Specified propellants are trichloro-fluoromethane, dichlorodifluoromethane and 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethane, and mixtures thereof. Isopropyl myristate and surfactants may also be included in the compositions.ALSO:Steroid compounds of the formula <FORM:1081358/C2/1> wherein R3 is H, Cl, or F are prepared by reaction of the appropriate 16a ,17a -isopropylidenedioxy - pregna - 1,4,9(11) - triene - 3,20-dione, lithium chloride and N-chlorosuccinimide.ALSO:Anti-inflammatory compositions comprise a steroid of the formula <FORM:1081358/A5-A6/1> wherein R3 is H, Cl, or F, and a carrier. The compositions may be presented in conventional forms for topical use together with conventional excipients. The active compounds may be incorporated into cosmetic preparations.
